Government appoints a Jewish representative to its Council for Confessions; the community is shrinking through emigration.

   Jewish representative on state religious council
   The Council for Confessions includes government-appointed representatives of 16 registered religious groups, including Jewish groups. Most Bukharan Jews have emigrated to Israel.
