Government hostility to Israel is directed at Israel. Ruling-party officials joined protests with antisemitic chants, but there is no state discrimination against South African Jews.

    ANC secretary general joins protest chant
    The Jewish Board of Deputies reported that ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula joined demonstrators chanting 'from the river to the sea'. The board recorded 207 antisemitic incidents in the year.
